Martin Doernes Theologie der Praxis

Das Buch erschließt das Werk Martin Doernes (1900–1970) unter dem Aspekt einer Theologie der Praxis, die sich gegenwärtigen Herausforderungen vor dem Hintergrund der lutherischen Tradition nähert. Doerne bewegt sich dabei zwischen gängigen theologiegeschichtlichen Einordnungen sowie auf der Grenze von Systematischer und Praktischer Theologie. Sein Werk eröffnet interessante Einsichten in die Entwicklung der Praktischen Theologie im 20. Jahrhundert, gerade während der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus. Neben der Werksdarstellung, die gegliedert in fünf Themengebiete (Volkskirche, Mensch und Sünde, Erziehung, Predigt sowie Literatur) erfolgt, wird anhand Doernes Position auch eine Besinnung auf Chancen und Grenzen einer systematisch-historisch orientierten Praktischen Theologie vorgenommen. [The Theology of Practice by Martin Doerne] The aim of this book is to open up the wide-spread written works of Martin Doerne (1900–1970) as a brand of practical theology that approaches contemporary challenges on the basis of its Lutheran background. Differentiating between five main areas of interest Doerne pursued (Volkskirche, man and sin, education, the sermon, and literature), the author demonstrates that Doerne’s work, meandering as it was between the usual classifications of systematic and practical theology, offers instrumental insights into the development of practical theology in the 20th century and during the so-called »Third Reich« in particular. Doerne’s position, it emerges, also reflects both opportunities and limits of a systematic and historically oriented practical theology.
