Die zweifache Wahrheitstradition

In Zeiten von Desinformation und digitalem Wandel steht die journalistische Suche nach Wahrheit vor neuen Herausforderungen. Auch die evangelische Publizistik als spezifisches Modell dieser Berufspraxis ist davon betroffen. Dabei zeigt sich, dass sich christliche Journalistinnen und Journalisten in zwei Wahrheitstraditionen bewegen: Sie sind den handwerklichen Fakten wie auch dem biblischen Verständnis von Wahrheit als Beziehung und Treue verpflichtet.
Journalismus und Kirche sind als Institutionen durch ihren hermeneutischen Ansatz und ihren Wahrheitsanspruch teilweise verbunden. Christliche Publizistik hat gerade im Sinne Öffentlicher Theologie wesentliche Aufgaben: den gesellschaftlichen Diskurs qualitativ zu bereichern, ihn anwaltschaftlich um wichtige Perspektiven zu ergänzen, Gesprächsräume offenzuhalten und so christliche Wahrheit mitzutransportieren.

In times of disinformation and digital transformation, the journalistic search for truth faces new challenges. Protestant journalism, as a specific model of this professional practice, is also affected by this. It is evident that Christian journalists operate within two traditions of truth: they are committed to factual accuracy as well as to the biblical understanding of truth as relationship and faithfulness.
Journalism and the church are institutions that are partly connected by their hermeneutic approach and their claim to truth. Christian journalism has essential tasks, particularly in terms of public theology: to enrich the quality of social discourse, to supplement it with important perspectives in an advocacy role, to keep spaces for dialogue open and thus to convey Christian truth.
