Wolfgang Grieninger

For more than 22 years, the Bavarian pastor Dr. Wolfgang Grieninger worked on behalf of Mission EineWelt in Southeast Asia, including Papua New Guinea and Malaysia. In his last position, he was a lecturer at the Theological Seminary Malaysia (STM) in Seremban. There, he was primarily concerned with the question of "typical Lutheran" identity and developed a kind of "Lutheran Action Plan" for Malaysian pastors.
Grieninger found the situation of the congregations so exciting that he developed the topic of his doctoral thesis from it. In his dissertation titled "The Question of Identity - Chinese Lutheran Christians in West Malaysia", he explores the question of how Chinese Lutheran Christians in Malaysia can assert their identity as Lutherans in an Islamic context.
